New to Brixham!

Move to Brixham

We now have both boats in Brixham.!
On the weekend of the 27th February 2009 we lifted out 'Kelly's Hero' at the Dunball Wharf, Bridgwater, we contracted a lift with Hewden Cranes with suitable transport to Torquay by Norman R Keedwell using a low loader.
Help was on hand at Dunball in the form of some very good friends namely Mike Rawles, Chris Dunn, Peter Wright, David Chandler, Steve Cox and not forgetting my forever-supporting wife Mary.

The lift went extremely smoothly without any shouting or arguing (pays dividends to use professionals).

Over the weekend with ‘Kelly’s Hero’ safely on the trailer Chris Dunn and myself set about scrubbing off the old anti-fouling and applying a new coat of ‘Jotun Guardian 30’ what a pleasurable paint to apply. My thanks to Zoe Strode of Jotun for advising me on the correct paints to use.

Monday 2nd March we set off from Dunball on route to Torquay, journey down was fairly uneventful with the exception of the occasional numpty that tried either undertaking the transport or not keeping over in the narrow streets of Torquay. Again as before it pays to use a professional transport firm and Norman and Ben Keedwell, defiantly are cool chaps when it comes to moving such a wide load. Norman can be contacted via e-mail norman.keedwell@btinternet.com
The lift in was also uneventful, we used Torbay Seaways & Stevedores Ltd these can be contacted on 01803 296570 or web www.torbayseaways.co.uk

Chris Dunn then gave me a hand to steam ‘Kelly’s Hero’ over to her new port of Brixham, on the way over we stopped, to take the opportunity to wash the deck down with some clear sea water, something that she has never had on her decks before! After speaking with the ever helpful Harbour Masters we tied up on the Towns pontoon system in readiness for another couple of jobs that have to be completed before the summer season of fishing.

Another very useful contact we have made in the town is Graham and Matt Dryer of ‘Brixham Bait and Tackle’ Graham has already given me lots of his local knowledge and confidence. We hope this relationship will be the start of good things to come. Contact them via their web site on www.brixhambaitandtackle.co.uk or mailto:graham.dryer@btinternet.com Telephone 01803-853390.

Well folks that about it for now and I hope that in the very near future I can report some good catches of fish. Many thanks to all of you who have shown your support in our move and hope to see you in the future.

Regards Dave and Mary
